BENGALURU: Commercial Street in Bengaluru is synonymous with affordable and bargain-friendly shopping. But the Garden City has many other places such as Chickpet, Shivaji Nagar, KR market, etc, where one can get good quality products for low prices.

1. Malleshwaram

Vaishnavi Vaidyanath, a Bangalorean shared that Malleshwaram is one of the oldest localities in Bangalore and many people know the locality for its temples.


She added, “But it is a great shopping destination for apparel and accessories. While commercial street has a lot of western wear, Malleshwaram has a lot of Indian wear to offer, with prices starting as low as Rs.100."


2. Indo Dubai Plaza aka Tibetan Plaza, Brigade Road

Indo Dubai Plaza famously known as Tibetan Plaza is located at Brigade Road. It has a variety of things ranging from clothes, shoes, bags, mobile accessories, tattoo shops, etc.


Nishitha Rachel, a resident of Bengaluru, said, “I went to Tibetan Plaza (also known as Indo Dubai Plaza) around 4 years ago and haven’t stopped. I love shopping at that place. Everything is so good. The quality of the clothes and the price too.”


3. Sri Balaji Creations, Gandhi Bazar

Sri Balaji Creations located in Basavanagudi is a go-to destination for those looking to get branded clothes at low-price.


Kavya Umashankar, an engineering student shared, “Sri Balaji Creations in Gandhi Bazaar is a pocket-friendly place for shopping. It's a factory outlet where you can get branded clothes for a cheap price. Although the rate here is fixed, you can get clothes for a cheap price range of 100-500 rupees.”


4. Shivaji Nagar

At Shivaji Nagar, you can shop for furniture, antique jewelry, clothes, shoes, fruits, flowers, upholstery, etc, at an affordable price.

“The shopkeepers in Shivaji Nagar do reduce a lot of prices if bargained. We get very nice quality clothes and many other things for a cheap price. But a lot of searching is required and one should go to small shops and not big/fancy showrooms,” said Lisha K Reddy, a resident of Kudlu Gate.


5. Chickpet

Chickpet is one of the oldest places for shopping in Bengaluru. Located a few minutes away from Kempegowda Bus and Metro Station, a ride to Chickpet can not get any easier.


Sandesh Blesson, a resident of Bidar said, “Quality of items in Chickpet is good, it is not that bad. Most of the shops are bargain friendly except for a few. Shopping at Chickpet is indeed cheap compared to other regions in Bangalore.”


6. Zudio, BTM Layout

Zudio is a clothing, footwear, and accessories store for all ages. It is present at various locations in the city such as Shivaji Nagar, Naagarbhaavi, Bannerghatta, and Koramangala.


“Zudio at BTM Layout offers a reasonable price for their clothes. They say the price is fixed, but we can bargain. The quality of the clothes is good. But not as good as the branded ones,” said Elinda Basumatary.


7. KR Market (Krishna Rajendra Market)

Famously known as ‘City Market’, KR Market is one of the largest wholesale markets in Bengaluru. It is also acclaimed to be the largest flower market in Asia.


“K R Market is best for flowers, vegetables and fruits, you get these items for a very low price. The market doesn’t only have the above mentioned but many other products that are sold in bulk (wholesale rate) and individually too,” said Sachin Raj a resident of Yelahanka.


8. Jayanagar 4th Block

Not as famous as other shops/markets on the list, but Jayanagar 4th Block market is one of the oldest markets in Bengaluru.


“Jayanagar 4th Block is an affordable place to shop for women's accessories and clothes. And if the customers bargain effectively the price might come down to 100 or 200 rupees,” said Lekhana N.
