Bengaluru is a melting pot of languages with a total of 107 languages being spoken in the city. What's more special when it comes to languages and Bengaluru is its slang. Nimma Uru Bengaluru brings to you a list of popular slang that is unique to the city and its people.

1. Adda - hang out place

That one common hangout spot where you make all the memories. Adda is home to all chitchats, gossips, venting sessions, and debates and discussions ranging from why adam from sex ed deserved better to how capitalism caused climate change.

2. Pop (Popular) pronouns

Bangaloreans are never short of pronouns when it comes to addressing their friends. Bob, bro, Macha, Maga, and so on. Your friend addressing you maga is equal to the online version of being added under the close friend list on Instagram.

3. Psych/ sike - mind-blowing

A slang that is used to describe a mind-blowing thing, something that takes you by surprise, or something that you enjoyed the most. Ex: Tenet is an awesome movie bro. Cinematography, storyline, screenplay everything is just sike/ psych.

4. Scenes

One word to explain/ express when something goes wrong or something bad occurs.

Ex: Scenes at Richmond circle bob, traffic cops towed away my bike.

5. Kiwi mele hoovu - Used when someone is trying to fool you, especially the auto-rickshaw who asks exorbitant fare that might end up emptying your pocket. Ex: kiwi mele hoova? (are you trying to fool me?)

6. Minching

The literal translation of minching is shining. Used when your friend or a person is grabbing eyeballs with his/her outfit.

Ex: You are minching in this outfit today bob.

7. Chotte - waste\useless

Probably that one player in your team who might cost you the IPL trophy. Ex: He is a chotte player with a strike rate of 20.

8. Honourable mention (ESCN) - Not a slang but a premier slogan during the IPL “Ee Sala Cup Namde” which translates to 'The cup is ours this time. Say this in front of an ardent RCB fan and his/her heart is yours.
